18.01.2010 - BIX.BG starts 2010 as a member of EURO-IX

In 2010 BIX.BG joins the European Internet Exchange Association (Euro-IX) and become part of the Internet Exchange Points which recognised the need to combine their resources so as to co-ordinate technical standards across the continent, develop common procedures, and share and publish statistics and other information. With now more than 40 member IXPs and over 2,600 connected customers to these member IXPs, Euro-IX represents a large part of the European IP community.

Formed in May 2001 Euro-IX is working to further develop, strengthen and improve the Internet Exchange Point (IXP) community. The total traffic served by all Euro-IX members exceeds 3Tbps (three terabits per second).

Euro-IX work in close partnership and support from the world leading companies in the field of networking equipment as Cisco, Extreme, Juniper, Force10 and other. That exchange of information is useful in elaborating and introducing technical standards and procedures.

Becoming part of the European IXP community BIX.BG will be able to participate actively in the coordination of technical standards, the development of common procedures and the dissemination of important professional information.

For less then 6 months BIX.BG attract to its services 29 companies and carry traffic of 17Gbps.
